Who we are

EV Technology1 is a specialist consultancy and technology provider to the electric vehicle industry.

Our business is two-fold and includes consultancy services and technology analysis (such as telematics, machine learning to predict vehicle battery range and usage of charge points).

This privacy policy is applicable to our Web Fleet Portal (hereinafter: the Portal). The Portal aims to assist registered fleets, their managers and their drivers of electric vehicles to monitor and analyse the location, state of charge and energy consumption of their vehicles.

We are a data controller registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) with the certificate reference number A8428699.

Types of personal data we process

Information you provide us with
We process the information that you provide us with when registering as a driver, manager or company administrator of the Portal. This includes:

  • Information about individuals, including: their first name, surname, email address, company and role.
  • Information about vehicles, including: the registration number, make, model, variant, battery size, odometer reading on installation, and MOT, service and tax renewal dates

Information we collect
When you use our Portal, we collect vehicle location, state of charge of the battery, odometer reading, energy consumed, speed and usage of gears, lights, heater and air conditioning. We also use this raw data to create trip reviews, vehicle utilisation data and charging data of the vehicles in which you have installed our telematics devices (upon receiving your explicit consent – please see below).

How we use your information

We use information for the purposes of conducting our business. This involves mainly three circumstances:

Using the Portal

  • We use the information you provide us with and which we collect to enable you to use the Portal. If necessary, we may also use your data to contact you in relation to the use of our Portal. When collecting and holding this data, we rely on a legitimate interest (in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) GDPR2) and the applicable domestic law, i.e. the Data Protection Act 2018.   • For a better user experience and in order to display where your vehicle is and track its movement, we also obtain, use and otherwise process your location data collected from the telematics device you installed into your vehicle, relying on your explicit consent granted to us to process your location data, in accordance with Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and the applicable domestic law, i.e. the Data Protection Act 2018.

Technology analysis

  • We use both the information you provide us with and which information we collect for our technology analysis. This includes machine learning to predict vehicle battery energy consumption and range, optimisation of routes, and usage of charge points; as well as driving behaviours as precisely as possible, for instance by creating statistics for driving behaviours (speed, energy consumption, etc.). Please note that personal data we use in this context is always pseudonymised and the number of staff members with access to personal data is kept at an absolute minimum. When collecting and holding your data, we rely on legitimate interest (in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) and the applicable domestic law, i.e. the Data Protection Act 2018. Newsletter

  • We may use your contact details to send you newsletters. Our newsletters concentrate specifically on the Portal and serve for releases of its new versions. We may also include summaries of journeys made by the user on the Portal. We do not use the newsletter to send direct marketing. When doing so, we rely on legitimate interest to conduct business (in accordance with Article 6(1)(f) GDPR and the applicable domestic law, i.e. the Data Protection Act 2018). We do not store your personal data for longer than is necessary to achieve the prescribed aims. We store your personal data in an accessible format as long as you are an active user of our Portal. We store your personal data as pseudonymised data for machine learning purposes even after you stopped using the Portal for as long as it is necessary for us to conduct the technology analysis. You can opt out from us storing your data at any point, by sending us an email to: info@ev-tech.uk.

We do not store your personal data for longer than is necessary to achieve the prescribed aims. We store your personal data in an accessible format as long as you are an active user of our App.

We do not use your data for profiling or any automated decision-making processes.

Information that we share

We share the data we receive and collect from you with our partner and shareholder, Jini Guru, with a registered address in India. This company holds, has access to and otherwise processes all the data provided and collected when using the Portal as we build and improve the Portal in cooperation with them. We have a data protection agreement (Standard Contractual Clauses) in place with Jini Guru, in compliance with Article 47 GDPR.

We store your data on Amazon Web Services (a secure server) in the UK.

We do not share your data with any other companies and do not transfer it anywhere else outside the EEA.

Accessing, updating, and / or removing your personal information

You are under no statutory obligation to share your data with us.

You may request us to confirm what information we hold about you at any time. You also may request us to modify, update or delete such information. In order to do so, please contact us at info@ev-tech.uk. Upon receiving such a request, we will provide you with the information without undue delay and within a month at most, free of charge, as required by the GDPR.

EV Technology believes that its processing of your personal data will have no adverse impact on you as the data subject. However, if at any point you feel we have been in breach of data processing rules, you can lodge a complaint with the UK supervisory authority (the Information Commissioner’s Office, ICO: https://ico.org.uk/concerns/).

Changes to this Policy

If we decide to introduce any significant changes to this privacy policy, we will publish them on our website https://www.ev-tech.uk/privacy-policy.html and / or we will contact you directly through the Portal.
